Young Americans today are the first generation in our country’s history who see that we’ll be worse off than their parents. We’re strapped with student debt, stagnant wages and overwhelming uncertainty over how to pay for childcare or afford a home. We know it doesn’t have to be this way. At NextGen, We’re mobilizing young people to build an economy that works for all of us.

Young people, and especially young people of color, will be hit hardest by the impacts of climate change. Climate disaster is already at our doorstep, and it is imperative to transition to 100-percent clean energy before it’s too late. We’re providing the tools and confidence young people need to put climate on the agenda and make the changes that will ensure a safe future for generations to come.

Americans under 35 are the most diverse age cohort in American history. Young people have confronted our country’s legacy of systemic racism and oppression with a sense of bravery and commitment unseen since the Civil Rights Movement. They’re working to make our political, economic and justice systems more equitable and accessible for all. We’re committed to that work, too — and to providing the civic engagement tools that turn demands into policy.

True democracy — when ordinary people can come together to decide who represents them and who offers the best ideas to solve the challenges we face — has always been a threat to the powerful. We’re raising awareness on rampant voter suppression and the ongoing efforts to repress the power of young Americans, people of color and the working class.
